Protection of the environment must come from the mind. The way we act will serve as an example on the inside and on the outside. That is why, based on long years of experience, we have developed simple rules which are to motivate our employees to implement our objectives: The HOFFMANN MINERAL Environment Rules. We want to get things moving. Not only with our products.

Employees

Jointly we take action to implement our environmental goals. To achieve this, we maintain a thorough and open dialogue.

Continued training and information

Complete and appropriate information, regular training and continued education encourage our environmental awareness.

Communication

We will give open and honest answers to questions addressed to us. In selecting our suppliers, we insist on sufficient consideration of environmental responsibilities.

Safety and environmental protection

Safety in our production units, and environmental protection represent equally important objectives, and will never be neglected in the interest of increased productivity.

Products

We continually enlarge our knowledge about the environmental compatibility of established or newly developed products, and take appropriate measures.

Product development and manufacturing processes

With new products and/or manufacturing methods, we take the requirements of environmental protection into account right from the development and trial stages.

Resources

We endeavor to use raw materials and energy economically, and thus take good care of the environment.

Waste and scrap disposal

We strive to reduce wastage, to use recyclable materials in an appropriate way, and to dispose of non-recyclable scrap in agreement with existing regulations.

Waste water effluents

Using adapted techniques, we try to bring down the amount of effluent water as well as pollution levels.

Soil

In the recultivation of the mines exploited by HOFFMANN MINERAL, we try to harmonize economical and ecological interests via cooperation with owners, users, authorities, forest experts and nature conservationists. On the plant site, we avoid harmful contamination of the ground.

Exhaust air

We take care to use manufacturing techniques with low emissions. Unavoidable exhaust air streams are purified according to the state of the art.

Noise

In order to protect employees as well as neighbors, we carefully monitor and confine existent noise sources.

Supervision

Within our own responsibility, we monitor and control production units and processes as well as exhaust air, effluent water, soil, scrap materials and noise.

Initiative

Environmental protection for us is not just a question of laws and regulations. We live and press on with pertinent measures out of our own initiative and responsibility, and with continuous improvements as the ultimate goal.
